FPA is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support and encourage peaceful resolution of all conflicts on the continent of Africa through mediation and constructive dialogue between all the stakeholders.
In support of this goal, FPA’s current focus is on Northern Uganda where more than 1.2 million citizens have been forced by a 21-year old war to live in camps for internally displaced people under horrendous conditions. The situation in Northern Uganda was recently characterized by the former UN Under Secretary for Humanitarian Affairs, Jan Egeland, as the "worst forgotten humanitarian crisis" in the world. After many years, both the Ugandan Parliament as well as donor countries have designated Northern Uganda a disaster area.
